Registered Nurse for Stroke Unit/Neurorehab at Sunderby Hospital

to apply for the job
The Stroke Unit/Neurorehab belongs to the Neurocenter at Sunderby Hospital. The department has 14 care beds (Neurorehab 5, Stroke Unit 8, and 1 bed belonging to the "Save the Brain" alarm chain). Adjacent to the department are the stroke rehab team (SHR), the Stroke Clinic, and the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic.
We are looking for
The Stroke Unit/Neurorehab is looking for you, an engaged registered nurse who is interested in working with advanced healthcare at a calmer pace. Our staffing levels are slightly higher than other internal medicine departments to enable person-centered care and rehabilitative nursing.
You have good cooperation skills and an interest in being involved in the improvement culture that permeates the department. You have a good holistic view, thrive in teamwork, and work solution-focused in complex care situations. You are communicative and contribute to a professional and patient-oriented way of working.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
What you will work with
During the day, your main focus is the Stroke Unit; evenings and weekends, patients from both the Stroke Unit and Neurorehab are distributed. As a nurse at the Stroke Unit/Neurorehab, you are responsible for the nursing process, i.e., ensuring that nursing planning, medical monitoring, and individual rehabilitation continue throughout all hours of the day. This includes leading, distributing, prioritizing, and evaluating the needs-based and rehabilitation-focused nursing work daily.
The department's goal is to work with the entire care chain, from the acute onset of stroke until the patient is discharged with the support of our SHR team. At the stroke unit, you work together with the team based on clear routines grounded in the National Board of Health and Welfare's National Guidelines for Stroke. This includes, among other things, making independent assessments of the patient's neurological condition and acting quickly during the acute phase to prevent secondary brain damage. Fixed routines and clear directives regarding the intervals within which the patient's vital parameters should remain create security and efficiency.
On the department, we work in multiprofessional teams including nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, speech therapists, doctors, assistant nurses, and rehab instructors. In addition, we have a development leader on the department who contributes to you being able to focus on the patient as a nurse. Good teamwork, good communication, and well-established structures for the rehabilitation process mean that patients can make significant progress in a relatively short time, which is an exciting journey to be part of.
If you would like to come and observe us, please contact the Unit Manager.
