About the role

Södra Cell Mörrum is one of Södra's pulp mills and a vital part of our sustainable and circular value chain. Here, we work together for safe, stable, and long-term production – where occupational health and safety (OHS) is a natural part of everyday life and a prerequisite for business success.

To the HR department and the Occupational Health and Safety Group at Södra Cell Mörrum, we are now looking for an additional Occupational Health and Safety Engineer who wants to further develop our systematic OHS work and contribute to a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for everyone operating at the facility.

What you will work on at Södra

In the role of Occupational Health and Safety Engineer, you will work both strategically and operationally with OHS. You are a key support to the line organization and drive improvement work that strengthens safety culture and contributes to us reaching our goals within OHS.

You operate in a complex industrial environment where structure, collaboration, and clear communication are crucial – and where your work makes a real difference for both people and the business. Our systematic OHS work also includes behavior-based safety, where reinforcing safe behaviors develops our safety culture.

The purpose of the role is to drive improvement work that leads to the development and improvement of Södra's OHS. You contribute your knowledge in the OHS field and lead and participate in various types of risk analyses based on the organization's needs. Another part of the work is to develop and follow up on OHS routines and instructions, monitor and interpret changes in legislation and regulations, and coordinate contacts with authorities.

Furthermore, you plan and conduct training initiatives to convey your OHS knowledge and become a resource for the entire organization in these matters. You act as an internal auditor and administer the incident reporting tool.

The position is a permanent full-time day shift role located at Södra Cell Mörrum.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who want to take responsibility for developing the work environment in an industrial operation where health and safety always come first. In the role, you have a clear operational focus and enjoy supporting the organization in daily OHS work – close to the operations and in dialogue with managers and employees.

We are looking for you who gladly engage in dialogue in everyday life, influence behaviors, and contribute to things actually happening in practice. You are not afraid to jump in, take initiative, and work hands-on with OHS issues.

To succeed in the role, you need the ability to work systematically and long-term with change, while being solution-oriented and non-hierarchical in daily work. By showing care and always putting health and safety first, you contribute to creating a Södra with the human and culture at the center.

To succeed, you need:
  • a strong commitment to OHS

  • good analytical skills and a structured approach to work

  • ability to build trust through clear and pedagogical communication

  • social competence and ease in collaborating in different forums

  • courage to drive issues, set requirements, and influence behaviors

We also see that you have:

  • education as an Occupational Health and Safety Engineer or equivalent education

  • at least three years of experience working as an OHS Engineer or similar role in industry

Join us in building a sustainable society

Södra is one of the country's largest forest industry companies and is jointly owned by more than 50,000 family forest owners in southern Sweden. In addition to developing forestry, we strive to always use the forest raw material in the most effective and climate-smart way. Pulp, timber, pulp for textiles, and bioproducts are just a few examples. By working together, we have the strength, engagement, and courage required to build a sustainable society. This happens with our feet on the ground, our ear to the outside world, and our gaze forward.
