Job Description

As an Electrical Designer at AFRY, you will work with the entire chain of electrical design for industrial projects. The role involves preparing electrical documentation, circuit diagrams, cable and connection lists, and material specifications using CAD tools such as Eplan or Elprocad. You will become an integral part of the project team, responsible for the electrical design portion, requiring close collaboration with automation engineers and project managers. Work is primarily based at AFRY's office in Kalmar or on-site at the client, with some possibility for remote work.

We expect you to drive the design work from feasibility study to final solution, contributing your expertise to ensure the project delivers according to requirements and schedule. You will receive support from your manager and colleagues, as well as access to AFRY's broad network of specialists. In the long term, there are excellent development opportunities – for example, deepening your expertise in advanced electrical design, taking on the role of systems engineer or project manager, and developing as a consultant with a holistic perspective on client assignments.

Some assignments may require security clearance, meaning the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of Electrical Designer, you need a problem-solving approach where you can quickly identify causes of problems in complex electrical designs, analyze different solution alternatives, and choose the most effective path forward. You are business-minded and structured, meaning you plan and organize your work with order in drawings and documentation, ensuring the project follows agreed requirements, schedule, and budget. The role also requires ambition – you take responsibility for driving tasks forward, actively seek improvements, and stay updated on new technology. Finally, it is important that you are a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and clients, shares knowledge, and contributes to a good working climate.

Requirements

• Experience in electrical design within industry (manufacturing/process/food) and commissioning.
• Minimum vocational education (YH) in automation/electrical design or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in Eplan or Elprocad.
• Experience with machine safety.
• Swedish and English at a professional level in speech and writing.

Merits

• Knowledge of standards for Safe Machinery.
• Experience with multiple electrical design tools.
• Knowledge/experience of control system programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Control Builder / 800xA).
