About the Job
You will lead and develop environmental analysis and research concerning recreational fishing, with a primary focus on research and stock assessment of the European lobster.
The duties consist largely of project management, collection, and analysis of various types of data, such as scientific survey catches, citizen science data, and logbooks from both commercial and recreational fisheries. The role involves significant contact with the interested public and authorities. The work is primarily based at the office, though some fieldwork and weekend work may occur.
Qualifications:
You must:
- have documented experience in the design, sampling, analysis, and reporting of aquatic biological data
- have experience and knowledge of the marine environment
- hold a valid driver's license
- be able to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
It is an advantage if:
- you have worked with recreational fishery-related research and have published scientific works in the field
- you have experience with population modeling, particularly stock assessment
- you have experience with so-called citizen science research
- you have experience communicating research needs and results to various stakeholder groups
- you have experience operating small boats
Emphasis is also placed on personal attributes such as communication and collaboration skills, analytical and problem-solving competence, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Eligibility:
The applicant must hold a PhD in biology, marine biology, ecology, or equivalent.
About Us
The Department of Aquatic Resources monitors and evaluates the status and development of aquatic ecosystems and how resource utilization affects them. Research covers studies of fish and shellfish stock status, ecosystem analysis and interactions, spatial analyses, effects of human impact on fish and ecosystems, fishery conservation and fishing methods, aquaculture and its effects. Biological advice for management and sustainable use is one of the department's main tasks, as is managing Sweden's part of the EU marine data collection program and conducting national environmental monitoring. The department is located in seven places, with main offices in Lysekil, Drottningholm, and Öregrund.

100% or by agreement, minimum 80%.
