The mission of Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB (SKB) is to manage the radioactive waste from Sweden's nuclear power plants in a safe and efficient manner. Today, approximately 550 people are employed at SKB. We maintain extensive collaboration with experts and contractors outside the company.

SKB's headquarters are located in Arenastaden, Solna. We also have offices in Oskarshamn and in Forsmark, Östhammar municipality, where we have facilities and conduct various operations in preparation for the construction of a final repository for spent nuclear fuel.

SKB is seeking personnel with electrical expertise for our operations in Forsmark!

Where you will work

At the Final Repository for Short-Lived Radioactive Waste (SFR), located in Forsmark, Östhammar municipality, we face significant challenges. The existing facility is to be modernized and is also facing a major expansion up to and including approximately 2031.

Approximately 40 employees work at the facility, and you will join the operations team responsible for the operational management of the facility. The operations team currently consists of about five employees, both technicians and engineers.

The team is facing an exciting period, and here you will have the opportunity to help shape the operations in connection with SKB's construction of new facilities in Forsmark.

What you will do

You will work with operational management and contribute to a safe and available facility.

Main tasks include:

  • Operations monitoring – alarm and disturbance management, as well as rounds and readiness.
  • Operational testing – capacity and functional checks.
  • Work permit management – preparing electrical and process demarcations, reviewing work to be performed, issuing and collecting work permits and keys.
  • Participate in facility development/projects as a representative for operations.
  • Manage operational documentation – update operating instructions and disturbance instructions.
  • Short-term facility planning.

In the operations team, we work in rotating roles where responsibilities and tasks vary each week. We take turns being the operations watch responsible for monitoring, the ABH (Work Permit) officer handling work orders, and the technician responsible for rounds and functional testing in the facility.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in technology and relevant knowledge in electrical engineering, preferably with experience in roles such as electrical technician, electrical engineer, operations manager, electrical installation manager, switching supervisor, switching assistant, or similar.

We also expect you to have:

  • Secondary education, preferably with a focus on technology/electrical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of working with electrical installations, such as commissioning and demarcation.
  • Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Driver's license B.
