Care for People with Disabilities – Visby

At Region Gotland, you can grow and develop, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all aspects of life. We make each other better.

Our Operations

Within care for people with disabilities, we work to create security, participation, and independence. We offer individually adapted support that strengthens each person's ability to live as independently as possible. Our main focus is on support for individuals with decisions under the LSS Act, but we can also provide support under the SoL Act.

We are in an exciting phase of development following a major reorganization. It has sometimes been an intense period – but also developmental, educational, and full of new opportunities. Now we are building further together and are looking for you who want to contribute with engagement, new perspectives, and drive in our continued improvement work.

Our mobile teams in Visby consist of experienced and competent employees with broad knowledge and long experience in the field. Here there are good opportunities to develop, learn from each other, and contribute with your own perspectives in the daily work.

We are now looking for two new employees – one for Mobile Team 1 and one for Mobile Team 2 in Visby.

Your Tasks

As a support assistant/resident assistant, you will among other things:

  • Work together with colleagues to support users towards increased independence and participation in society.
  • Use a motivating and activating approach in daily work to strengthen the users' own resources and ability to take initiative.
  • Provide individually adapted support based on each person's unique needs.
  • Work with a pedagogical approach in daily support.
  • Protect the users' self-determination and integrity in their own homes.
  • Work based on the IBIC method (Individual's Needs in the Center).
  • Act as a contact person, which involves creating and following up on implementation plans, maintaining ongoing contact with relatives and other actors, coordinating measures according to LSS, and collaborating on measures according to HSL.
  • If needed, collaborate and support colleagues in both Mobile Team 1 and Mobile Team 2.
  • Work according to a basic schedule with day, evening, and weekend shifts (every other weekend).

Who Are You?

If you are applying for the position of support assistant, a secondary school education with a focus on care and/or pedagogy, or equivalent education, is required.

For the position of resident assistant, no formal education is required, but experience in healthcare and social care is an asset. For both positions, a B driving license for manual transmission is required, as well as the ability to cycle during work.

It is an asset if you have experience working with people with disabilities, especially if you have worked with challenging behaviors and low-affectionate approach.

To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you are stable and secure in your professional role, with good collaboration skills and an approach that contributes to a good work climate. The work requires pedagogical insight, where you can adapt your approach based on the individual's needs.

Furthermore, you need to be structured and work methodically, with the ability to plan and prioritize your work. A development-oriented approach is also important, as you are expected to contribute to the continued development of the operation. You also need to be able to work carefully and legally secure with documentation and feel secure in following current routines.

In accordance with the new language requirement, you must have a good command of Swedish in speech and writing to ensure safe care, good, and correct documentation.

Before an offer of employment, an acceptable extract from the police criminal record register must be presented. Click here to order the extract (https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/arbete-i-hemmet-med-aldre-och-personer-med-funktionsnedsattning-e-tjanst/).
