Trollhättan Parish is looking for cemetery workers for the 2026 season

Do you want to be part of the cemetery management and together with other employees manage beautiful burial and cultural environments?

The cemetery management is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Håjum and Götalunden cemeteries. The total area is approximately 36 hectares and the sites include about 10,000 graves. Grave care is an honorable task that is close to our hearts.

The management also maintains green areas around churches and parish halls. We take pride in our facilities and cultural environments and continuously work on their development. We strive for a workplace with diversity and equal gender distribution.

We are now looking for seasonal employees during the following periods

  1. Period 1 long: work takes place between March 9 – October 31, 2026.
  2. Period 2 short: starts on June 8 and lasts until September 11, 2026.

What tasks are included?

You will mainly work with all tasks occurring in the cemeteries, such as maintenance and upkeep of burial sites/properties. Common tasks include: grave digging, grave setting, lawn mowing, weeding, hedge trimming, minor construction work, planting, and maintenance of grave flower beds. Regardless of the weather, you will work outdoors and the job requires good physical fitness.

You should be a good representative of Trollhättan Parish's cemetery management, which requires a professional social approach. You will meet people at different stages of life and should be able to meet cemetery visitors respectfully and empathetically.

The following qualifications are required for employment:

  • Education in the green sector and at least one year of documented experience in cemetery or gardening work (requirement for period 1).
  • Driving license B (the job requires transportation between workplaces on public roads).
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as much of the work is based on written instructions.
  • Good knowledge of IT environments (e.g., Teams, MS 365, mobile) as communication and follow-up largely occur in IT environments.
  • Being pleasant and spreading joy at work is a task, as well as collaborating with colleagues and management.

It is advantageous if you:

  • Have a driver's license for excavators, tractors, wheel loaders, chainsaws, certificates for brush cutters, and
  • documented experience in operating these.
  • Documented experience in snow and ice control, grave digging, earthworks.
  • Documented experience in lawn mowing with larger machines.
  • Documented experience in water and sewage work as well as construction work.
  • Documented experience in emergency preparedness activities.
  • Documented experience in digital mapping (GIS)
  • Handle multiple languages
  • Documented competence/experience in CPR, First Aid.
  • Documented experience with maintenance manuals, timelines, and work orders.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of systematic work environment management.
  • Documented experience in task distribution/project management and follow-up.
  • Documented experience in mentoring.
