About the Position

We have positions for both those who are new in their role as a nurse and for those who have more experience or are ophthalmic nurses. You will receive individually tailored onboarding.

Eye Emergency Department

The Eye Emergency Department receives patients with acute vision-threatening conditions, accidents, and other acute eye problems that require rapid handling. The patient's stay is short. The Eye Emergency Department is open every day from 8 AM to 4 PM. We work in teams staffed by optometrists, nursing assistants, ophthalmic nurses, nurses, specialist doctors, and resident doctors. The work includes making an initial assessment of the patient, eye-specific examinations using modern technology, and telephone advice. Scheduled working hours with duty every fifth weekend and some evening shifts.

Nursing Ward

The nursing ward is a smaller ward that cares for patients of all ages from one year and up. The nursing ward has 16 inpatient beds with single rooms for both surgical and medical patients. We have short lengths of stay, fast flows, low care load, and most patients are self-sufficient. The work includes taking care of patients in the nursing ward. We work in teams, and you are never alone as a nurse. Some duty in the day surgery department occurs where patients are prepared for surgery. Fixed rolling schedule with duty during the day, evening, and weekends. We work for healthier schedules with fewer evenings and weekends.

Retina Clinic

At the retina clinic, we examine and treat patients with diseases of the eye's posterior segment, such as various diseases of the retina or changes due to diabetes and age-related changes in the macula. The work includes preparation for doctor visits, fundus photography, assisting with injections, and telephone advice. Working hours are daytime Monday to Friday, with one evening and one weekend every fifth week in the eye emergency department.

Anterior Segment Clinic

At the clinic for the anterior segment, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and oculoplastic surgery, we work in teams staffed by optometrists, nursing assistants, ophthalmic nurses, nurses, specialist doctors, and resident doctors. The work includes preparation for doctor visits with various technical examinations such as ultrasound, biometrics, visual field tests, as well as various treatments and telephone advice. Working hours are daytime Monday to Friday, with one weekend every fifth week in the eye emergency department.
