About the Unit

We are now seeking command reinforcement (BFA) who wish to develop towards further education for professional or reserve officer training. The Basic Training Battalion Ångermanlands Infantry Battalion (Infbat) at I21 in Sollefteå trains conscripts for several different combat units. The battalion was established in 2024 and is conducting its first training year with around 100 conscripts. Before the intake in 2026, the number of conscripts will almost double, and the battalion will establish its second Basic Training Company, the Functional Company, alongside the existing Norrland Rifle Company.

Main Responsibilities

As a command reinforcement (BFA), you will support the platoon's professional officers primarily in training activities. Together with the commanders, you will plan and conduct training for the platoon's conscripts in various service branches. The battalion has several different type platoons, and these train 20-50 conscripts per platoon annually. As a command reinforcement, you may have the opportunity to lead troops during the year's exercises.

We offer a fixed-term employment for one year. The position is primarily aimed at those who intend to apply for professional or reserve officer training starting in 2027.

• Staff and Supply Platoon
• UH Platoon
• REP Platoon
• Command Platoon

Qualifications

To apply, you must have completed or be in the process of completing military basic training with a passing grade.

Meritorious

• Completed conscription in a leadership position
• Driver's license B

You have a high safety awareness. You are flexible and prepared to work under provisional conditions. You have the ability to work independently, see the big picture, and make decisions in line with higher management's intentions. You are meticulous and can adjust your pace as required. You can speak up if you think something is wrong, but you also have the ability to implement the commander’s decisions even if you do not agree.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability during recruitment.

Other:

The position BFA is a fixed-term employment of 12 months. Employment in the Armed Forces entails an obligation to serve in international missions. Individual salary is applied in the Armed Forces, and flexible working hours within certain frameworks are applicable. A security check with a background check will be conducted before employment according to §19 of the Security Protection Act. The position may involve travel and training at other locations, and participation in exercise activities may result in absence and work being conducted outside regular working hours.

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21, was re-established. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of the infantry in Lower Norrland.

I 21 currently has operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Lower Norrland Garrison. At the Ångermanlands Infantry Battalion and the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, conscript soldiers are trained for service in the new modern infantry to operate from mountains to sea in a subarctic environment.
