The unit for Digitalization, IT, and Medical Technology consists of approximately 160 employees who, together with the operations, will drive digitalization and information-driven development, providing a safe, stable, and efficient IT and medical technology operation. The Department of Infrastructure is responsible for the region's digital infrastructure, which is the technical foundation upon which other systems and solutions build. The department works to enable stable and secure operations, as well as to develop the technical foundation, information management, and architecture for the future.

We are now looking for an experienced Windows Server Technician to join the Department of Infrastructure, who wants to work with the operation, management, and further development of our server environment. The role is suitable for you who are passionate about stability, security, and order in a Windows-based operational environment.

Windows Server Technician with a focus on operation and security

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Installing, configuring, and operating Windows servers in our production environment
• Ensuring that servers are properly hardened (security hardening), updated, and comply with the organization's security requirements
• Actively working with patching and update management via WSUS and reviewing how we will work with future patching and update management from Microsoft
• Automating recurring tasks and improving routines using tools such as PowerShell
• Monitoring server health, troubleshooting incidents, and working proactively to prevent operational disruptions
• Developing, documenting, and improving routines for backup, recovery, log management, and access control in collaboration with colleagues
• Collaborating with other IT specialists to ensure a stable, secure, and well-optimized operational environment

As a server technician with us, you will work systematically and long-term to:

• Harden and strengthen servers based on best practices (services, ports, roles, permissions, network segmentation)
• Ensure correct configuration of roles that are relevant to respective needs.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alarms for early detection of deviations against the region's existing log management system.
• Work according to principles of least privilege, role-based access, and secure authentication
• Conduct regular checks of backups, restore tests, and operational reliability together with other colleagues

You will ensure that the Windows server environment is robust, secure, and ready for future needs. In your role, you will also support other IT specialists and roles within the unit. This may involve evaluation, configuration, and troubleshooting, as well as training and ordering solutions. You will have contacts both internally and externally, which places high demands on you to maintain a professional and responsible approach towards customers and colleagues. Other tasks may occur.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone who has:

• Education in IT or equivalent work experience
• Several years of experience working with Windows Server operations
• Good understanding of server hardening, security principles, and operational reliability
• Experience with WSUS for update management
• Good knowledge of PowerShell for automation and troubleshooting
• Ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

We would also like you to have experience in:

• Active Directory and GPO administration
• IT security and incident management
• Cluster solutions in Windows Server
• Backup and recovery solutions
• Larger operational environments with high demands on security and stability
• Knowledge in DBA SQL
