Would you like to be part of the development work taking place within the Community Building Sector? The sector is currently implementing a new working method to achieve sustainable community planning with a holistic perspective that you will be part of.
We are looking for a unit manager for the planning unit. In the role of unit manager, you will be part of the management team of the operational area, contributing to the development of the operations within the entire community planning area.
The planning unit consists of a unit manager and fifteen colleagues and is responsible for processing detailed plans, planning decisions, and programs, as well as collaborating with other units that are part of the community building process. The operational area also includes the unit for strategic planning and land and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You are tasked with driving, leading, and developing the unit together with your employees and in collaboration with management, based on the core assignment and established goals. As a unit manager, you bear the main responsibility for the unit's economy, work environment, personnel responsibility, and ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Leading operations in accordance with the municipality's goals, assignments, and regulations
- Creating the greatest possible benefit with available resources
- Driving continuous improvement efforts, with innovation and new thinking in the development of the unit
- Driving the development of processes and lead times
- Ensuring that the entire operation can develop in accordance with governing documents and with a clear focus on residents
- Taking a broad societal interest and interpreting the surrounding demands on the organization
- Reporting results, analysis, and actions to the immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with several years of documented experience in managerial and leadership roles. You have an academic education in community planning or another education that the employer deems relevant.
As a leader, you are confident, clear, and stable. You create structure and direction in the operations and contribute to good conditions for employees to develop in their professions. You lead through a developing leadership style where you utilize employees' competencies while setting frameworks, clarifying priorities, and making decisions when necessary.
The role requires you to be attentive to the needs of the operations and have good collaboration skills. As a manager, you actively work to develop working methods and collaboration within the unit, as well as to create a sustainable and trusting work environment with a shared focus on assignments and goals.
Experience in a politically governed organization, participation in the investment process, and portfolio management is advantageous. Experience with digital detailed plans, process development, and shortening lead times is also beneficial.
