Ground Safety Officer for the Support Department at the Air Combat School

Do you want to help strengthen Sweden's defense capability? Do you have an interest in ground safety, analysis, and development – and want to work in an organization where both professionalism and innovation are needed? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

The Air Combat School (LSS) is a unit in development, where innovation and modern working methods are a natural part of everyday life. As a ground safety officer, you will be a key player in creating conditions for a safe and secure operation. Here, you will have the opportunity to combine proven methods with new perspectives to strengthen the unit's ground safety work.

With us, you will have a meaningful and varied job where you contribute to Sweden's security, while also being offered great opportunities to develop and influence working methods, routines, and methods.

About LSS Support Department:

The LSS support department is one of five departments within the LSS staff. We support the entire unit with specialist competence in operational safety, work environment, logistics, infrastructure, environment, and IT. As LSS develops into a combat unit, the demands for modern solutions, robust systems, and smart working methods also increase – making our department central to the unit's future development.

About the Position

As a ground safety officer, you will have a central and advisory role in the unit's operational safety work. You will coordinate and follow up on ground safety issues, manage cases from all operational sites of the unit, and actively work to identify areas for improvement.

In this role, you are expected to contribute both structure and innovation – being able to propose modern solutions, develop existing routines, and translate analysis into practical improvement work. You will keep the operational safety officer updated on the situation regarding ground safety and contribute to spreading clear, current, and useful information to all units within the organization.

You will also be part of the LSS investigation group and have the opportunity to influence the formulation of guidelines, instructions, and regulations that are important for the unit's development. The position is based in Uppsala, but since LSS is located in several places across the country, visits to these locations are a prerequisite for solving several of the tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and follow up on the unit's ground safety work and drive improvement measures based on analysis and deviations
  • Participate in ground safety meetings, deviation management, as well as inspections, audits, and investigations
  • Develop and implement modern working methods, routines, and support for ground safety, and contribute new perspectives to the unit's ground safety work
  • Support training and implementation of new routines, safety materials, and educational aids
  • Provide advice and support to managers and colleagues in applying current safety regulations and ensure that the right information is disseminated within the unit
  • Contribute to risk management, information gathering, and the development of current follow-up and planning materials

Qualifications:

  • Professional officer
  • Good computer skills and experience with MS Office
  • Good administrative ability
  • Driver's license B
  • Good ability to express oneself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Personal Qualities:

To succeed in this position, you need to be driven, structured, unpretentious, and skilled at expressing yourself verbally and in writing. The work requires that you can work independently but also together with others. In your role, leadership is required both to lead internal work within ground safety and when representing the Air Combat School in ground safety-related tasks. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in training others
  • Previous experience working in staff
  • Previous work with ground safety or operational safety
  • Completed training – operational safety basic course and advanced course
