The Västernorrland Police Area is one of the police areas in the North region. The geographical area includes seven municipalities.

The Västernorrland Police Area is divided into three local police areas: Medelpad, Northern Ångermanland, and Southern Ångermanland. At the police area level, there is an investigation section, serious crimes section, section for particularly vulnerable crime victims, on-call investigation leadership, investigation section, criminal economics section, and station command operations. Furthermore, there is a police area office.

The Southern Ångermanland local police area is part of the Västernorrland police area. Within the local police area, there is intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service.

We are now looking for someone interested in working on an hourly basis as an arrest guard, based in Härnösand. As a part-time employee with us, you will have what is called an intermittent employment. This means that you will be employed for each individual work shift and receive financial compensation per hour. The number of hours worked varies per person and over time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main task will be to work in our arrest facility by receiving and managing individuals who are deprived of their liberty and being their closest contact during their time in the arrest facility. Many are deprived of their liberty for the purpose of investigating crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, intoxication. You may work with simpler investigative measures in the arrest as well as other commonly occurring administrative tasks such as transcribing interrogations and other administrative tasks related to evidence management.

In addition to the above tasks, you may also perform other tasks within internal and external service as needed, such as work in the reception, evidence management, and report taking, among others. Work at another location within the county may occur.

The pace of work varies based on the tasks, and the work can be physically demanding, which requires that you are in good health.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education, or education combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant
  • Driver's license B (for manually shifted vehicle).
  • Good computer skills.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Good understanding of the English language and the ability to express yourself well in English.

It is advantageous for the position if you also have:

  • Are a police student or have a similar education that the employer deems relevant for the position
  • Current work experience of working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant.
  • Current work experience of having worked with deprived individuals such as arrest guards, correctional services, HVB/SIS homes, security guards, or other experience that the employer deems relevant.
  • Basic understanding of legal terms and confidentiality acquired through education or work experience.
  • Other language skills besides Swedish or English that the employer deems relevant where you can use the language in your professional practice.

Personal Qualities

In the role of arrest guard, you will meet many different types of people in vulnerable situations, which requires your empathetic ability. We also see that you have a service-oriented approach and are accommodating as a person. As the pace of work varies and tasks can change, it is required that you have a flexible attitude. Furthermore, you are responsible and have good collaboration skills, relating to others in a responsive and smooth manner.

As a person, you are secure in yourself and act with maturity and integrity. In stressful situations, you can act calmly, controlled, and professionally. You apply a high security mindset, which means that you are reliable in situations where physical violence may arise.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Working hours: Work on an hourly basis as needed. 24/7 operations (day, evening, weekend, and night).
