The police area of Blekinge northeastern Skåne is one of the police areas in the southern region and has its headquarters in Kristianstad. The geographical area covers 10 municipalities. The local police area of Karlskrona is part of the police area of Blekinge northeastern Skåne. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service.

The traffic group in the local police area of Karlskrona currently consists of 6 traffic police officers, 2 vehicle inspectors, and 1 group leader. We are now looking for a vehicle inspector for the traffic group in Karlskrona who wants to be part of the police's traffic safety work and thereby contribute to the authority's goal of increasing safety and reducing crime.

Job Responsibilities

The police's traffic safety work aims to reduce the number of deaths and injuries in traffic. To achieve the goal of fewer fatalities and injuries in traffic, the traffic safety work is focused on prioritized areas such as speed, seat belts, sobriety, driver and vehicle control, as well as mobile inspections. Increased compliance with traffic regulations also leads to increased safety in society. Controls of professional traffic mean that personnel with specialist competence must be present to achieve the levels established by the EU. In the area of driver and vehicle control, as well as mobile inspections, we have civilian vehicle inspectors who, together with traffic police, work on the roads with these tasks.

The job responsibilities mainly consist of conducting:

• mobile inspections of light and heavy vehicles/professional traffic

• checks of professional drivers' driving and rest times

• checks of load securing

• checks of permits for professional traffic

• checks of national and international professional transports

• weighing of vehicles

• investigation of certain traffic offenses

• technical inspections of vehicles

• checks of taxis, rest times, etc.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

• Relevant education for the position, such as certified inspection technician, vehicle technician, or equivalent education/experience deemed relevant by the employer

• Swedish driving license for categories BE, CE, D

• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

• Knowledge of commonly used Office programs and experience using computers as daily work tools

• Work experience in the vehicle field that the employer deems relevant

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Certified inspection technician or equivalent (certified K2/R3 or validated at level F3 according to the Transport Agency's regulation TSFS 2017:53)

• Trained vehicle engineer

• Good knowledge of traffic legislation

• Language skills in one or more non-Nordic languages (not English)

• Driving license A

Employment type: Permanent employment with a 6-month probationary period. The position begins with mandatory training. Approved training is a requirement for continued employment.
