Make a Difference. Every Day.
Do you want to gain solid expertise in highly specialized care over time? Then apply for the position of clinical nurse specialist with us! The vascular department specializes in both vascular surgery and vascular medicine, so you can apply for this position if you are specialized in either surgery or medicine. Your main goal is to be a clinical specialist who helps the staff achieve excellent care for our patients.
We belong to the thoracic and vascular care area at Skåne University Hospital. The vascular area includes three units; the inpatient department Vascular Department, Vascular Surgery, and Vascular Clinic. We provide both vascular surgical and vascular medical care for patients with various types of vascular diseases. Additionally, we are responsible for vascular care in the southwestern and central healthcare districts in Skåne and for the highly specialized treatment of vascular diseases throughout the Southern healthcare region. Even though we are specialized and at the forefront, we are a smaller area, which contributes to short decision-making paths and trust in each other.
In the vascular department, care flows are often fast, with normal lengths of stay ranging from two to seven days. The most common surgical conditions are carotid stenosis, aortic aneurysm, and claudication/critical ischemia, which are treated either with endovascular techniques, open surgery, or conservative treatment. The medical diagnoses mainly include pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and malignant hypertension.
Within the VO, there is a nursing professor who develops and supports evidence-based practices and leads the work of implementing Region Skåne's Competence and Service Model, which provides a clear structure for your learning and career opportunities within our organization.
We believe that responsiveness, trust, and individual development within the team, along with high competence and safe care, are prerequisites for a pleasant and secure work environment! Therefore, we focus on trust-based leadership, both in terms of introduction and further education. As a new employee, you will receive a tailored introduction program that includes shadowing, theory, and internships within the vascular field.
Through continuous internal training, such as wound care training and transfer knowledge, as well as external university courses, we build a knowledge-stable unit. At Malmö University, there is a course in Nursing in Vascular Diseases and Vascular Surgical/Endovascular Treatment worth 7.5 credits, and the goal is for you to take it within a couple of years.
We are a department that works with development and improvement efforts. If you enjoy developing and being developed, the vascular department is a place for you.
