Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Margretelund

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working at SiS will be an exciting challenge for you. SiS Youth Home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping.

Job Description

We are looking for treatment assistants for our secure treatment unit Kinnebäck, focusing on boys. Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the unit function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and safety of our youth and are responsible for the foundation of daily life, including schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You also help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth receive the safety and security they need to break established behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Correctional Officer
  • Security guard training
  • Education in health and care
  • Experience working with our target group

*Exceptions from the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
