Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Margretelund

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping.

Job Description

We are seeking treatment pedagogues for our locked treatment department Kinnebäck, targeting boys. Would you like to be part of creating life-changing transformations for vulnerable individuals? Then the job as a treatment pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work, providing support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the fulfillment of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain safety according to our routines and participate in ensuring that daily life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, etc. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. The work may also include mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who see a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule, day - evening, and weekends.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of people. You are motivated to help individuals in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values, being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our youth. As a person, you are self-assured and have an easy time building relationships with youth as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You find it easy to collaborate with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You should also have:

  • A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work or equivalent education from a university that we assess as comparable
  • A valid driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written

It is also advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working with individuals in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or within LSS care
  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., correctional officer
  • Security guard training
  • Training in care and nursing
  • Experience working with our target group

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
