Group Manager at the National Board of Forensic Medicine in Stockholm
Do you want a meaningful job where your skills contribute to strengthening the rule of law? The National Board of Forensic Medicine is the expert authority that provides the judicial system with the basis for important decisions – from forensic medicine and forensic analyses to forensic psychiatric investigations. Whether you work in core operations or in a supportive role, you are part of something bigger: contributing to a legally secure society.
- The National Board of Forensic Medicine has received two new assignments – to conduct risk assessments on behalf of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding conditional release and to carry out special risk investigations regarding security sentences on behalf of the court. The organization and structure of the operations will be shaped over the next year in collaboration with clients and employees. The assignments will take effect on January 1, 2026, and March 1, 2026, respectively. To meet an increased workload and new tasks, we will recruit several new employees during 2026.
We are now looking for a group manager for the stay department at the Forensic Psychiatric Examination Unit in Stockholm, located near Huddinge Hospital.
Your Assignment
As a group manager, you will be responsible, together with your two group manager colleagues, for leading the staff of the stay department. We are looking for someone interested in developing working methods where both care operations and security work are important. You will work with staff management, have personnel and budget responsibilities, participate in the unit's management team, and work with quality, follow-up, and operational development. As a group manager, you will collaborate closely with other professionals within the forensic psychiatric department located in both Stockholm and Gothenburg.
Requirements
- You are a registered nurse
- You have extensive experience working in forensic psychiatry or inpatient psychiatric or addiction care.
- Experience in a managerial role
Desirable
- Experience working in a management team
- Further education in psychiatry for nurses
Personal Qualities/Abilities
You are interested in the managerial role and its administrative and strategic aspects, and you are keen to develop the organization and its employees. In your work, you are responsible, plan, and take the initiative for changes and efficiencies. As a manager, you need to be able to collaborate and create dialogue with colleagues and employees within the authority. The position requires good computer skills and the ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
The Employment
Permanent employment begins with a six-month probationary period, with a start date according to agreement and placement at the forensic psychiatric examination unit in Stockholm.
The authority's units are located in various locations in Sweden, which means that travel in the line of duty may occur. The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.
Depending on the needs of the operations, there is an opportunity to enter into a private agreement for remote work for part of the working hours.
RMV is part of the justice chain, and we place high demands on employees' judgment and security thinking, as well as respect for law and order. As a representative of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you follow the state value base and contribute through your actions to legal security, legal certainty, and trust in the authority.
We conduct background checks for some of our positions by checking extracts from the criminal record. Upon employment at RMV, there may be an obligation to be placed in a crisis position. The position may be classified in a security class, and a security review with a register check may therefore be conducted during the employment. This means that you need to be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background.
We apply a competency-based recruitment process that may include psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples. Before hiring licensed health and medical care personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.
Do you also want to contribute to a legally secure society?
Welcome with your application by April 7, 2026. Certificates and other documents should be brought to a possible interview.
The National Board of Forensic Medicine advocates for a recruitment process free from discrimination and strives to provide equal opportunities for all.
We kindly decline all offers of advertising and recruitment assistance in this recruitment process.
