About the position
We are part of the Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care (PMI) function and perform advanced pre- and postoperative optimization of patients. Our patients' length of stay varies from one hour up to a day, which means that the work as a nurse with us is very varied.
As a specialist nurse or registered nurse with us, you will work with highly specialized and advanced postoperative care, which may involve monitoring and possible interventions of vital parameters, mobilization, and pain management, etc. Preoperative preparations and treatments for various types of surgery also occur.
You will come into contact with a variety of patient groups as Karolinska University Hospital's different themes perform surgery in several specialties, such as liver, pancreas, and kidney transplantation. With us, the tasks and pace of work are very varied, which gives you a deepened and broad competence in several areas.
We operate around the clock, with a higher flow during the afternoon/evening. To meet the needs, we also have several intermediate shifts in addition to regular working hours.
We are looking for someone who

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Licensed nurse
- Experience in emergency care or surgical care
Meritorious:
- Licensed nurse with specialist training in emergency care, surgical nursing, anesthesia, intensive care, or other equivalent specialist training
- Previous experience in pre- and postoperative care

The Function of Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care is the hospital's collective resource for anesthesia, surgery, pre- and postoperative care, and intensive care for adults. We also manage hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), highly specialized pain care, and the sterile technical units.
