Environmental Engineer at Miva – Together for a Sustainable Future

Do you want to work in an industry that truly makes a difference? Water and sewage, along with waste and recycling, are part of our everyday life.

Our main tasks are concrete, but it is also in our industry that significant investments are made. This is necessary because an important part of our infrastructure needs to function both today and far into the future.

We are passionate about environmental issues – whether it’s about how we detoxify the cycle or how we can make it easy for our customers to sort waste correctly. Waste will always exist, and someone must take care of it in the best possible way. Do you want to join us on our continued journey?

About the Position

As an Environmental Engineer in our Waste and Recycling department, you will play a central role in maintaining and developing our environmental efforts at our facilities where we handle waste and sludge. You will be an important part of an engaged and competent operational support group with seven employees, where you contribute with expertise and support for compliance with legislation in our area. You will also collaborate with other environmental experts within Miva. With us, you will have the opportunity to develop in an environment where your efforts make a difference for society every day, all year round.

Examples of Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report from our facilities and collaborate with our operations organization to ensure that environmental requirements are met
  • Establish self-monitoring programs and conduct field sampling with subsequent data management and outcome analysis
  • Conduct environmental investigations
  • Monitoring and implementation of legislation, e.g., by establishing routines and instructions primarily within the environmental area but also as support within other legislations and requirements related to waste and recycling, such as work environment, hazardous goods, fire, and emergency preparedness
  • Manage authority contacts, notification cases, and prepare environmental reports
  • Participate in internal and external training initiatives
  • Contribute expertise regarding our treatment plants for leachate and biogas
  • Administrative support to the business area, e.g., through work with our management system

Who Are You

We are looking for someone with a solution-focused approach who enjoys driving projects forward. You see opportunities and implement improvements in our operations. You keep things organized.

Personal qualities we value:

  • Responsible, structured, and meticulous
  • Ability to collaborate with many contact points while also working independently within your area of responsibility
  • Curiosity and willingness to apply new knowledge in practice
  • Service-oriented and solution-focused

You have:

  • Post-secondary education with an environmental focus and several years of work experience in the field; experience from the waste and recycling industry is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation in the area
  • Since the position involves many contact points with Swedish authorities, you need to be able to communicate clearly and professionally in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Computer skills and good IT knowledge
  • Driver's license B (requirement)

We Are Miva, Miva Is Us

Miva's operations are one of the cornerstones of society, making our work important and meaningful. We offer a stimulating and creative environment, clear and measurable goals, and realistic demands and challenges that lay the foundation for doing a good job. Through participation and responsibility, you contribute to the development of the organization.

Based on our annual employee surveys, we can proudly state that our staff is well and happy with us. The opportunity for a balance between work and leisure is significant. This also increases the willingness to recommend us as an employer.

Our customers are also satisfied with us. Year after year, we receive high ratings in our customer surveys. This is not something we take for granted, but we are convinced that our engaged employees play a significant role in making everyone's everyday life work. Every day, all year round.
