The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and seeking more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The Luleå operational area is the northernmost part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and includes the prisons in Luleå and Haparanda as well as the remand facility in Luleå. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. In the prisons, inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or the prison's wood production. You can easily reach the Luleå prison and remand facility via public transport, and if you drive, you can park in our staff parking area. The Haparanda prison is a five-minute walk from Haparanda station.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a kitchen assistant with us, you will work in a large kitchen and be part of a team with both chefs and kitchen assistants preparing meals for the inmates at the prison and remand facility in Luleå. Your tasks will include planning, purchasing, preparing, and serving lunch and dinner, as well as preparing breakfast and evening meals. Your responsibilities will also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, washing dishes, and conducting self-checks in accordance with applicable legislation. Preparation of dietary meals and other special diets will also occur. The work will be partially in collaboration with other staff members in different functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and self-aware. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other training combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Experience working in a restaurant or large kitchen that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• The ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

• Restaurant and/or large kitchen education
• Experience working with self-checks
• Driving license (B)
