Care for People with Disabilities

In our care services, we work to provide support and service to individuals with various disabilities.

Our mission is to facilitate everyday life and create conditions for as independent a life as possible. With the individual at the center, we work based on our values: trust, care, and participation.

We are now looking for four short-term families in Gotland.

Are you interested in opening your home and being an extra family for a child or a youth during certain weekdays, evenings, or weekends? This could be something for you.

As a short-term family, you will welcome a child or youth with a disability into your home for shorter periods. This initiative provides the child with opportunities for a change of environment, social interaction, and new experiences, while the regular family receives relief.

Your Responsibilities

Being a short-term family means, among other things:

• a child or youth with a disability will visit your home during planned weekends or occasional weekdays
• the child or youth will have the opportunity for a change of environment, new experiences, and social interaction
• the visits provide valuable relief for the child's family

Assignment and Compensation

the assignment as a short-term family is not an employment, but a task

• you will receive a fee as compensation for the assignment
• you will also receive reimbursement for expenses to cover costs such as food and activities
• the fee and reimbursement follow the guidelines of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR)

Who Are You?

The most important thing for a short-term family is that you enjoy being with children and youth and have the willingness, time, and commitment to make a significant impact in a child's life. You do not need previous experience as a short-term family, but it is an advantage if you have experience with children or youth with disabilities. It is also an advantage if someone in the family has education in areas such as child and youth care, health and social care, or education.

You are a secure and stable family with personal maturity who can offer a warm and structured environment for a child. With your empathetic ability, clarity, and holistic view, you find it easy to meet children's needs and create an environment where the child can feel seen, understood, and welcomed. You also have a good ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with the child's family and network.
