About the position

As an Assistant University Nurse in Transplant Surgery, you are responsible for business development and competence development within your specific area. Your mission includes developing and strengthening care for the individual patient through quality assurance of routines and guidelines to ensure evidence-based practices.

The role's responsibilities include:

• putting the patient at the center through work with quality development, based on patient-centered care
• actively working for good contact in interdisciplinary teams
• documenting routines and guidelines within the area and implementing them
• updating routines and guidelines according to existing evidence in patient-centered care
• structuring and presenting new knowledge and technology
• being an initiator and participating in research conducted in the department
• in consultation with colleagues, being responsible for employee introduction and training within the area
• with pedagogical competence guide, educate, and support colleagues
• collaborate with and be part of networks with other Assistant University Nurses within our medical unit
• work to create good collaboration between our staff categories
• network regionally and nationally to monitor the specialty.

The position includes being clinically active within all abdominal surgery with part of the position allocated for care development within Transplantation. You are part of the interdisciplinary team where you have an important role in patient-centered care.

We use fixed 8-week schedules and easy weekend planning, which our employees appreciate.

The position includes 2 shifts with work every fourth weekend and on-call duty at home.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Specialist nurse in surgery
• At least 5 years of clinical experience as a nurse
• Clinical expert knowledge and defined care responsibility and knowledge area
• Master's degree
• Supervisor training 7.5 hp/care pedagogy 7.5 hp.

Being an assistant university nurse means that you have real and formal competence according to step 5 in the competence ladder within Region Stockholm.

Meritorious

• 3 years of experience as an operating room nurse.

About the recruitment process

Appointment as Assistant University Nurse/University Nurse will be made after due decisions from the assessment group for nurses at Karolinska University Hospital.

Applicants fill out a merit list according to the competence ladder for nurses, signed by the applicant and verified by two persons, and attach to the application:

• Proof of registration as a Nurse from the National Board of Health and Welfare
• Proof of Supervisor Training (7.5 hp)
• Proof of Specialist Nurse Examination and/or Master's Degree
• Proof of Medical Licentiate Degree
• Proof of Medical Doctorate
• Publication list
• Study merit list of completed courses. For example, a LADOK extract from Karolinska Institute.

The application must clearly state the defined clinical care area within nursing. Examples can be nutrition, pain, wounds, or nursing within a specific flow/patient group.
