JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Planning Department has functions and expertise in everything from developing new neighborhoods and operational areas to food control, water supply, and detailed planning. Here, we create the conditions for the vibrant city and countryside of the future. The Strategy Unit is part of the Community Planning Department's strategy and planning division, and we are now looking for a Strategic Municipal Ecologist. Welcome with your application!
We are now seeking a strategic municipal ecologist for the strategy unit, whose task is to contribute to the establishment, development, and follow-up of strategies in the community planning process. The strategic municipal ecologist is responsible for:
- Monitoring and promoting the interests of nature conservation in the municipality
- Participating in the municipality's development work through comprehensive plans, detailed plans, and discussions on how buildings and facilities can be adapted to minimize impact on the natural environment
- Working with strategic management plans and nature conservation measures in nature reserves and the municipality's forests and land
- The work also includes handling grant applications to optimize the municipality's nature conservation efforts and outdoor initiatives
- Inventories and investigations of species and natural values either independently or by procuring ecological services
The work also includes responding to referrals regarding building and land permits, detailed plans, and comprehensive plans, as well as participating in environmental impact assessments and reviews, permits, and exemptions according to the Environmental Code concerning nature conservation and water.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a relevant academic degree, scientific or similar in applicable fields such as biology, ecology, or green infrastructure. You have experience in ecological activities. You also have relevant experience in investigative work, coordination, and project management. We prefer that you have experience in the field, ideally at a strategic level. Previous work in a municipality or as a consultant on ecological issues is considered an asset.
To thrive in the role, you need to be comfortable taking your own initiatives and enjoy developing processes and working methods with a broad perspective. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with others, as well as in various contexts and projects running in parallel. You have the ability to convey complex issues in an understandable way. You are driven and engaged while also being able to inspire others. You are good at networking and can create collaborations between different areas of interest at various levels both within and outside the municipality. Good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English are required. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
