JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to do good for those we are here for? At Växjö Municipality, we work every day for our residents, businesses, and visitors. In the Environmental and Building Department, we are responsible for the municipality's food control, ensuring that the food served and sold in Växjö is safe, correctly labeled, and handled properly.

The food group consists of five dedicated colleagues who work closely together, share knowledge, and help each other in everyday life. Here, you will have an independent assignment, but you are never alone in what you do.

As a food inspector, you will plan and conduct public control of food businesses in the municipality. You will manage your cases independently from planning and execution to follow-up, documentation, and decision-making, while we maintain a strong team spirit and share the work together.

  • Plan, conduct, and follow up on inspections of food businesses.
  • Handle complaints, investigate suspected food poisoning, and follow up on food alerts.
  • Write reports and make decisions related to the control work.
  • Provide advice and guidance to entrepreneurs regarding food legislation.

In this role, you will have many contacts with entrepreneurs and sometimes other authorities. Therefore, it is important that you can combine a professional approach with clarity and pedagogy.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree in food science or environmental and health protection, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • The ability to work systematically and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good collaboration skills and ease in building relationships.
  • A service-oriented and professional approach, as well as the ability to explain rules and requirements clearly and pedagogically.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in public control/government authority and knowledge of administrative law.
  • Experience working in case management systems, such as Castor.
  • Driver's license (B).

Travel within the municipality is part of the job and is conducted according to the municipality's transport and travel policy (car, bicycle, and public transport where appropriate).

OTHER

Employees of Växjö Municipality should reflect the diversity present in the municipality. We welcome applicants regardless of age, gender, and ethnicity.
