At the County Administrative Board of Kronoberg, you will work with water environments, supervision, and assessment in a role where your skills make a real difference.
Description
In the water unit, we are 18 employees and are now looking for a new colleague to strengthen our expertise in the technical and hydrological areas. Together, we have extensive knowledge in water issues and work in many different areas. This includes supervision, assessment of water activities, water conservation projects, and fish biology, as well as various types of grants, water management, drinking water, fishing issues, and liming. The unit has a mixed age and gender structure with many experienced employees. We have a good atmosphere where everyone works together for a better water environment. The water unit is one of four units that belong to the environmental department.
Responsibilities

As a water officer, you will work with supervision and assessment of water activities and drive the national plan for environmental adaptation of hydropower (NAP) forward in Kronoberg County.
With your technical or hydrological expertise, you will support the unit in calculating the function of fish passes, performing hydrological calculations, assessing the impact of physical structures in water and the effects of restorations, modeling fish communities, and smolt calculations.
The tasks are independent, varied, and developmental. You have a significant responsibility with many external and internal contacts. There are good opportunities to adapt your role and tasks according to your specific expertise.
The tasks also include handling cases related to the notification of measures in water, such as the construction of piers, dredging, or water extraction. You will also perform supervision, participate in consultations, respond to referrals, and you may also represent the County Administrative Board in court.
Some parts of the work are independent while others involve teamwork. Support is available from experienced colleagues and working groups. Occasionally, fieldwork and conferences in other locations may occur.
Qualifications
You have a technical or hydrological background and are interested in water issues. You may have an educational background as an engineer in ecosystem technology, environmental and water technology, or civil engineering, or you are a hydrologist.
You have:
- An academic technical or natural science education of at least three years, or other education that we consider equivalent
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
- A valid driver's license (B)
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience in modeling and calculations related to hydropower issues
- Experience in applying the Environmental Code
- Experience in working with water-related environmental issues
