Maintenance Engineer Track Technology Job Responsibilities
In the role of maintenance engineer with us in the Maintenance area, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the deliveries that bring Sweden closer. Within the railway units in the Southern Maintenance region, we are about 40 people working on various maintenance projects. You will have the opportunity to use your expertise in different types of projects alongside colleagues who are eager to share their knowledge.
As a maintenance engineer, you are the technical expertise for the projects within the railway's electrical installations. You support the team in one or more base contracts and ensure that agreements, laws, and governing documents are followed, ensuring together with the project team that the Swedish Transport Administration receives what we order. This will contribute to an accessible and robust railway system.
You primarily work out in the facility to perform delivery controls. During these, you assess the condition of the facility and identify needs for action, but you also spend time in the office where you support project managers and project teams within your technical area. Additionally, you will lead smaller projects and investigations - perfect for you who like to take responsibility and develop within your field.
The work mainly takes place during the day, and although you may occasionally travel for work, overnight stays only occur in exceptional cases. For those who want to work partially remotely, there may be an opportunity to work from home up to two days a week in this position.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, identify, and propose actions for a reliable railway facility.
- Prepare documentation for orders and update maintenance plans.
- Hold or participate in technical meetings with contractors and follow up on planned and completed work.
- Ensure that work is performed according to agreements, laws, and governing documents.
- Support the project manager in forecasting, procurement, and financial and invoice management.

QualificationsAs a maintenance engineer, you are an important part of ensuring that collaboration with our contractors, stakeholders, and partners works well. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is a skilled relationship builder and wants to contribute to a good collaborative climate. You have good judgment and can balance responsiveness and dialogue with clear communication to achieve progress.
Since the work has high demands regarding quality and safety, it requires you to be organized and able to think holistically without missing important details. In addition to good problem-solving skills, we also see that you need to be self-driven and able to prioritize your work wisely when there is a lot to do.
You meet at least one of the following basic requirements:
- Several years of experience in track technology (new construction or maintenance) within the railway, in recent times
- Current post-secondary education with a technical focus, which has provided you with good and updated knowledge in railway or track technology
In addition, the following is required:
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Good computer skills and the ability to work administratively in various IT systems
- Driver's license for passenger cars
Meritorious
- Experience with contracts in the railway sector, especially track technology
- Experience with operational work in the facility (maintenance, troubleshooting)
- Additional knowledge and experience in signaling and/or electricity
- Current experience in project or work management
- Knowledge and experience in contract law
- Experience with systems such as Bessy, 0felia, Optram, BIS, or Inspection Plan
