Job Advertisement: Cook at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

Kristianstad has a new remand prison with 120 places located in the new Justice Center block, and nearby there is a smaller older remand prison with 29 places. The workplace is equipped with a large staff gym, a staff restaurant with the option to purchase subsidized meals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The job as a cook involves working in a large kitchen preparing meals for inmates and staff. You will work in a team with a couple of other cooks and a kitchen manager. The kitchen is located in a secluded area, and you will not encounter inmates in your daily work. Working in our large kitchen means preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, purchasing, planning, cleaning, and self-control. It also includes preparing special diets, and from time to time, you will collaborate with staff outside the kitchen.

The summer position runs from June 1 to August 30 (weeks 23 to 35). You are expected to work the entire period.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to equitable treatment of all with your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Restaurant or large-scale kitchen education at the high school level or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working in a large kitchen
• Experience working with self-control
• Relevant language skills
