Welcome to us
Fruängens school is a K-9 school with 600 students in primary and adapted primary education.
The school is located adjacent to Fruängen's center with good transport links - subway and bus. The area is characterized by buildings from the 50s and 60s, but new residential areas have also been added in recent years.
The school consists of six buildings around a large schoolyard with pines and large areas for play and movement. The classrooms are modern and offer a stimulating environment.
We are about 100 employees with extensive collective experience and high competence and a strong interest in developing our joint work.

Your role
As a social educator, you work to promote safety, study peace, and a positive social environment in the school. You are a present adult in the students' everyday lives and work on relationship-building in the school's various environments, such as classrooms, corridors, and common areas.
You collaborate with mentors, teachers, student health, and school management. The work includes both preventive and remedial measures related to students' social development, relationships, and school attendance.
In the role of social educator, you provide support to students, teachers, and guardians regarding social issues and collaborate with relevant professionals at the school and any authorities/external parties.
The position is a one-year project employment. There may be opportunities for further employment after the project's completion.
Job responsibilities
In the role of social educator, you work to support students and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment. The job responsibilities include, among other things:
- being a visible and accessible adult in the school's environments
- planning and developing break activities and contributing to safety in common areas
- noticing and managing conflicts between students and conducting follow-up conversations and mediation
- supporting teachers in social situations in the classroom and contributing strategies regarding approach, conflict management, and group dynamics
- participating in the school's work against bullying and conducting safety talks, if necessary
- providing individual support to students regarding relationships, motivation, and impulse control
- leading smaller student groups focusing on social training, study peace, or group strengthening work
- ensuring new students receive a good introduction to the school's activities
- working together with mentors and student health in efforts to increase school attendance, for example through mapping, motivational conversations, and support during the return to teaching
- participating in the school's value-based work and planning activities that strengthen community and respect
The work is carried out in close collaboration with the school's staff and is part of the school's overall work for a safe learning environment.
Your skills and experience
Requirements
- Education as a social educator.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Good ability to create trusting relationships with students.
- Good collaboration skills and ability to work together with teachers, mentors, and student health.
Meritorious
- Experience working in a school or other educational activities.
- Experience in conflict management and social support for students.
- Experience working with school attendance or absenteeism issues.
- Experience working in safety teams or student health teams.
Personal competencies
To succeed in the role, you need to be relationship-building, clear, and secure in your interactions with students. You have a calm and solution-focused approach and can handle challenging situations professionally.
You work in a structured manner, have the ability to plan and follow up your work, and can adapt your working methods based on students' needs. The role also requires you to have good judgment and an interest in contributing to the school's work with safety, study peace, and an inclusive learning environment.
