Department of Clinical Sciences
Do you have several years of clinical experience as a small animal veterinarian, enjoy customer interaction, and delivering first-class veterinary care? Would you like to contribute to ensuring that tomorrow's veterinary nurses and veterinarians feel included and motivated during their clinical time? Are you perhaps interested in participating in a clinical research project? All of this is possible if you work with us at the small animal department of the university veterinary hospital! Welcome with your application!
About the job
As a licensed veterinarian at UDS, you will work in a varied everyday life in a round-the-clock operation at Sweden's only university veterinary hospital.
Since SLU is the only educational institution for animal health personnel, you will be involved in the training of future veterinarians and veterinary nurses.
The work includes duties during evenings, nights, and weekends. Currently, we have limited opening hours during weekends but plan to extend them in 2026.
Your background
You are a licensed veterinarian with the authority to practice veterinary medicine in Sweden. You have at least three years of clinical experience. It is advantageous if you are an independent emergency veterinarian and feel confident with medical assessments and emergency surgery. Likewise, if you have step 1 competence in canine and feline diseases or equivalent.
As the position involves extensive contact with pet owners and students, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
At the university veterinary hospital, we are customer-focused and care about a professional approach. You are communicative with a good ability to create and maintain good relationships with customers and colleagues. You are interested in teaching and participating in creating good conditions for research. As a veterinarian at the university veterinary hospital, you have a scientific approach and interest in evidence-based care.
As a person, you are structured, have good self-awareness, an understanding of what stresses you, and a willingness to contribute to the organization. You know that a fast-paced emergency operation with irregular working hours is something you can handle. In this recruitment, we will place great emphasis on your personal abilities.

By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.
Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, operationally adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory unit that goes out to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
