Neuroscience Department
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
We are looking for a licensed nurse with tasks divided between telephone counseling for our neurosurgical patients and the opportunity to be part of a specialized team and contribute to better quality of life for patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).
Our Operations
In the neuroscience department, we provide highly specialized care for patients with diseases and injuries of the nervous system and eye diseases. We work with investigation and diagnostics as well as medical and surgical treatment of both acute conditions and chronic diseases of the nervous system and eyes. Our work is always based on the patient's needs with a systematic approach.
Your Mission
In the day care unit, patients stay for the day for various examinations, investigations, and medication treatments. Patients come here for minor surgical procedures or to prepare for a larger surgical intervention that requires admission to inpatient care. Patients also come here for lighter examinations, preparations for radiological examinations, medication treatments, suture removal, and wound checks. Both in neurosurgery and neurology, patients come to day care both acutely and planned from all seven regions in the healthcare region of Central Sweden.
The day care unit serves as a hub within the department and is an important part of the internal patient flows. Within the unit, there is also telephone counseling, 1177, and coordination of important functions, focusing on good quality and research-based practices.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a licensed nurse with at least 2 years of experience in the profession and a genuine interest in neurosurgery and neurology. Previous experience in telephone counseling and neurosurgery/neurology is advantageous but not required. Personal suitability is highly valued.
Your Competence
You are flexible, structured, and have good communication skills. You enjoy and have a good ability to work both independently and in a team. You are curious, eager to learn new things, and have an interest in medical technology. You put the patient first and want to drive development and improvement work together with your colleagues.
We Offer
- Working hours Monday to Friday, (possibly with a few shorter evenings per month). We are closed on public holidays and weekends.
- A permanent position at 100% with start date according to agreement.
- A welcoming and competent team where care is part of everyday life.
- A work environment where we not only focus on medicine and treatment but also on having fun and enjoying each other's company.
- Good opportunities for development through internal training and basic courses in neurosurgery.
- Introduction tailored to your previous experiences.
