Region Östergötland operates three schools, which are gathered under the Regional Development Committee.

Vreta Education Center is located just outside Linköping, Himmelstalund's Education Center is located in Norrköping, and Lunnevads Folk High School is situated between Vikingstad and Mantorp.

At Vreta Education Center, the Agricultural Program offers specializations in agriculture, equestrian studies, and forestry, as well as the Vehicle and Transport Program's transport specialization and the Professional Driver specialization. A National Sports Education (NIU) is offered in equestrian sports (dressage or jumping). Vocational adult education and higher vocational education are available in agriculture, equestrian studies, and forestry. Adapted upper secondary school offers the national program in Forest, Land, and Animals.

Job Description

One of our employees is going on parental leave this summer, and we are therefore looking for a substitute cook for the kitchen at Vreta Education Center.

You will be involved in all aspects of the work in the kitchen, but the majority of the work will involve preparing and cooking food.

The position involves working 1 evening/week and 2 evenings every third week. Evening hours are scheduled from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and daytime hours are between 6:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Weekend work may also arise as we organize Open House and other events at the school.

Work Group

You will work with a team of four who have extensive experience in kitchen work and value collaboration, joy, and solution orientation. The kitchen staff currently provides meals for about 450 students from Monday to Friday and also serves breakfast to approximately 200 students living in the dormitory every weekday and dinner from Monday to Thursday.

About You

We prefer that you have formal education in food/nutrition and/or experience in the profession. It is advantageous if you have worked in a large kitchen in a school or similar setting. You need to have knowledge of special diets. We also have a kiosk operation, which means you need to be able to register purchases in our cash register system.

Working in the school kitchen is not just about cooking and serving food but also ensuring that our students feel good and are comfortable and safe in the school environment. Therefore, you need to be a social and secure person with a good attitude and a sense of humor. As a colleague to the current work group, you should be cooperative, communicative, solution-focused, and engaged. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities and interest in food.
