Treatment Pedagogue at SiS Youth Home Tysslinge

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge, located outside Södertälje, receives non-school-attending boys with psychosocial problems as well as criminality and substance abuse.

Job Description

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge is a high-security institution that accommodates youth at high risk for threats, violence, and absconding. The institution has a total of seven departments that receive youth placed under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU) and youth sentenced under the Act on Secure Youth Care (LSU). One of the departments consists of places for youth who are cared for in isolation (VIE) for a period. The majority of our youth are often in a legal process or already convicted of serious crimes and have connections to criminal networks.

In the role of treatment pedagogue, you work in a team and together you are responsible for ensuring that the youth in our care receive the structure, safety, care, and treatment they need. We meet youth in crisis, which means we must support the individual in their daily life through individually tailored and qualified care and motivational work with clear structures. With the support of your and your colleagues' knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the implementation of treatment plans. Documentation is an important part of your work for planning and follow-up of treatment. During the day, you also function as a teaching assistant and participate in the youth's schooling and leisure activities.

Since SiS Youth Home Tysslinge has the highest security classification within SiS, it means that you need to work with a high level of risk awareness. You contribute to maintaining safety in accordance with our written instructions and routines.

This is a job for you who can stand firm and want to create safety and security in the youth's often very difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. It involves conflict management and, in some cases, physical interventions, which you as an employee will receive mandatory training in. As a public servant, it is important that you act professionally and in accordance with objectivity and legal security. You share our vision of being a place for change, which permeates our approach, commitment, and attitude.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

The employment begins with a mandatory introductory week, which is a prerequisite for starting work in the department. The training will take place on-site at Tysslinge.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a humanistic view of people. You are motivated to support individuals in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's values, to be a place for change. Furthermore, you have a very good ability to create good relationships, engagement, and participation among our youth. As a person, you are secure in yourself and contribute to a good working environment with other staff. You have good communication skills, can maintain your calm even in pressured situations, and consistently follow laws, regulations, and routines. You also find it easy to collaborate with different professionals and internal and external partners and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
