Construction Play Wonderland in Geneta Södertälje

A staffed place for adventurous play, creative creation, and sustainable learning.

We are in the early stages of developing and establishing a place for free adventurous play, creative creation, and experiential learning in Geneta, Södertälje. A Construction Play Wonderland - created together with the children based on their own perspectives, aesthetics, and joy of creation.

Construction Play Wonderland will be an inspiring place where children and youth can build, grow, create art, and explore during both school hours and leisure time. The primary target group is children aged 5 to 12 years, and the secondary target group is youth from 13 years.

The purpose is to meet children's needs for movement and exploration, as well as to promote integration, health, and community and environmental engagement. Here, conditions are created for new meetings, community, and trust.

In an inclusive, pressure-free, and creative outdoor play and learning environment where everyone can feel welcome, children are given the opportunity to strengthen their resources and develop agency.

Educational staff support and offer assistance in various creative workshops, projects, and activities.

We are now looking for a Gardening and Sustainability Educator/Environmental Educator at 50% from May/June 2026 until February 2029.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a passionate individual who wants to work to promote children's good upbringing in a disadvantaged area.

As a person, you are creative, driven, and proactive. You have a social and pedagogical approach and can work outdoors in various weather conditions and seasons. You have the ability to inspire children and youth to engage in their local environment and its design. You are knowledgeable in ecological gardening and want to share your knowledge with children. Together, we create a sustainable community garden and construction play where children's aesthetics and abilities guide us adults. You are prepared to start from scratch and understand that the work environment is simple but full of genuine commitment and joy of creation.

An interest in child involvement, children's rights, and children's upbringing in a disadvantaged area is a must.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in gardening, pedagogy, sustainable development, or other relevant education.

At least two years of work experience in the field.

We welcome applicants from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Language skills, especially non-European languages, are valuable in interacting with our target groups.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in outdoor pedagogical work with children and youth.

Living in the local area.

Knowledge/experience of working in a non-profit organization and understanding collaboration with municipal administration.

We would also like you to have knowledge of youth culture and a good understanding of social media and how it is used by young people.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a gardening and sustainability educator, you will be responsible for establishing gardening at the site where children's exploratory play and discovery are fundamental components. Your tasks include: garden maintenance, educational gardening, designing and implementing environmental educational projects, providing conditions for biodiversity, pedagogical cooking over an open fire, and collaboration with schools and leisure activities.

Team

Our team consists of an art/social educator, an architecture educator, a construction play educator, and an art and sustainability educator, along with you!

We plan and conduct workshops, holiday activities, camps, and bookable outdoor pedagogical learning opportunities. We offer activities for children and youth during the day, on weekdays, and on Saturdays. Other working hours are dedicated to planning and basic maintenance of the site.

The operation is in the startup phase. Working hours and schedules will be created by the team once the recruitment is completed.
