A Smart and Meaningful Choice
Do you want to combine business acumen with sustainability – while also developing in your role as a Buyer? We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, and driven to make really good deals. With us, you will grow, take on greater responsibility over time, and help strengthen Holmen's competitiveness in a changing world.
Your New Workplace
Holmen is a Swedish forestry company with over 3,000 employees. We create sustainable products from our renewable Swedish forests and deliver them to quality-conscious customers around the world.
One of our four business areas is Holmen Board and Paper, where over 2,000 colleagues work with innovative and climate-smart solutions. At our headquarters, beautifully located by Strömmen in Norrköping – just a few minutes from the travel center – about 60 employees work in purchasing, business development, sales, technology, production and logistics planning, and customer service.
Group purchasing is organizationally part of Holmen Board and Paper, but we work cross-functionally and support all business areas within Holmen.
Your Future Role
As a category manager buyer, you will be responsible for one or more categories within Direct Material (input products). You will lead cross-functional category teams together with development engineers from our production units.
We work systematically with category management and continuously develop our methods and ways of working. In this role, you will:
- Develop, anchor, and implement category strategies
- Drive improvement initiatives in line with the strategy
- Prepare and conduct negotiations
- Establish and manage contracts
- Ensure effective implementation through clear dialogue with suppliers and internal stakeholders
The work is carried out in close collaboration with operational and development functions at our units. Travel to production facilities and suppliers is a natural part of the role.
To Succeed in the Role
We are looking for someone who combines business drive with relationship-building skills. You are engaged, communicative, and thrive in a role where you both drive your own initiatives and collaborate closely with others.
You:
- Have a relevant university degree or equivalent
- Have at least two years of qualified experience in purchasing or other commercial activities
- Have good analytical skills and work comfortably with data, both in and outside of business systems
- Communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Have experience in change and improvement work
It is an advantage if you have experience from production or development activities and knowledge of cardboard and paper production or relevant input products (e.g., binders, bleaching agents, pigments, process chemicals, and packaging materials).
We Offer You
With us, you will be part of a values-driven organization where sustainability, long-term thinking, and responsibility are central parts of the business. You will receive trust, mandate, and the opportunity to make a real impact.
You will receive:
- An inspiring work environment in Sweden – with the world as your workplace
- Engaged colleagues and an inclusive culture
- The opportunity to develop and strengthen our category purchasing
- A permanent position with good development opportunities
Does this sound like the next step in your career? Welcome with your application today. We work with continuous selection, and the last application date is 2026-03-11.
We Make the Forest Grow and Give
Holmen's operations are based on the power of the forest – the trees that grow, the water that drives our mills, and the wind that blows in the treetops. Our business is part of the forest's cycle, and the renewable products we create from it.
Our business areas are Forest, Energy, Wood Products, Cardboard, and Paper. Together, we are 3,500 employees who, with courage, commitment, and responsibility, create a sustainable future.
We develop premium cardboard and innovative paper products from fresh fiber – for everything from cosmetics, electronics, and pharmaceuticals to food, books, magazines, and transport packaging. Our products are appreciated for their high performance and low climate impact.
Production is located in Braviken, Hallstavik, Iggesund, and Strömsbruk in Sweden, as well as in Workington, United Kingdom.
