System Engineer for Aviation Safety Material to Technical Flight Unit

Technical Flight Unit 24.Flight System Section (FTE/FSS)

The Flight System Section (FSS) is responsible for the management of continued airworthiness (LFL), corresponding to the civil Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO). FSS is also responsible for the corresponding regulations regarding aviation base material and aviation safety material. The Flight System Section includes operational engineers, planning engineers, material planners, and technical accounting officers. The section is part of the technical organization of the flight operator, functionally led by the central technical manager. You will support all of the section's mission areas over time and the helicopter squadron's missions in general.

Main Responsibilities

As a system engineer, you will be responsible for decisions regarding the handling of deviating aviation safety material products, such as outstanding remarks or operational restrictions. You will report material deviations, request changes to maintenance regulations, and other reports to maintain system integrity. You will monitor, prepare, provide feedback, and inform the workshop and squadron about ongoing system integrity matters. You are a key part of the development of the section and the material system.

Tasks

  • Support the safety material workshop with technical system support.
  • Establish guidelines for maintaining system integrity within the material system.
  • Prepare documentation for the development of approved data.
  • Act as a link between the flight operator's technical organization and the safety material workshop.
  • Be responsible for deviation management within the material system.
  • Provide training as needed.
  • Participate in the unit during operations and exercises.

As an employee of the Swedish Armed Forces, you have physical requirements to maintain, and three hours per work week should be dedicated to physical training.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Current and relevant experience with aviation safety material.
  • Good ability to report in writing, document, and perform investigations and assessments.
  • Relevant high school education.
  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Personal Qualities

We prefer that the applicant is structured, analytical, and collaborative. You should have the ability to independently drive issues within the work area. Good ability to report in writing, document, and perform investigations and assessments within safety material. Personal qualities will be given great importance during selection.

Meritorious

  • Experience working with military (or civilian) management of continued airworthiness or system integrity.
  • Knowledge of deviation reporting regarding aviation safety or system safety-impacting deficiencies.
  • Training and experience within the aviation safety material system (SÄKMAT).
  • Trained in any flight operations data system used within the Swedish Armed Forces (FENIX, PRIO).
  • Experience working with governing documents and procedures within the Management of Continued Airworthiness (LFL) or Management of System Integrity (LSV Säkmat).
  • Good organizational knowledge and understanding of the interaction between the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the military industry.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Driver's license B.

Other

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not currently employed by the authority.

Employment level: Full-time.

Work location: Linköping, Malmslätt. Travel may occur, both nationally and internationally.

Employment relationship: Civil employment.

Start date: 2026-05-01 or by agreement.
