Environmental and Health Protection Inspector with a Focus on Environmental Protection

Östersund Municipality is seeking an engaged and knowledgeable Environmental and Health Protection Inspector with a focus on environmental protection. Job Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Protection Inspector, your main tasks will be processing and supervision of environmentally hazardous activities. Your work will play a central role in environmental protection in the municipality and contribute to creating safe and healthy environments. The work includes:

  • Processing cases according to the Environmental Code, such as notifications of environmentally hazardous activities, notification/permit cases within water protection areas, etc.
  • Conducting supervision of environmentally hazardous activities.
  • Collaborating with other authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Providing advice and information to entrepreneurs and the public.

The department continuously works with business development, which means that ideas for efficiencies and improvements are continuously requested and implemented. The work also involves active participation in business planning, which requires engagement and good environmental monitoring. The working method provides good opportunities to influence the implementation of supervision.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience in processing and supervision work within the area of the Environmental Code. You have:

  • A university degree in environmental science/biology/water or equivalent.
  • Experience in supervision and processing within the area of the Environmental Code.
  • Good knowledge of the Environmental Code and its accompanying regulations.
  • Experience in supervision of permit-required activities (A and B) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of administrative law.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Strong emphasis on service and collaboration.

You are meticulous, structured, and analytical, with the ability to work independently on complex cases. You enjoy collaborating and communicate clearly with various stakeholders, always aiming to achieve the best possible solutions for the environment and society.

A driving license (B) is required – we have a car pool. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date according to agreement.
