Microbiologist Wanted at Laboratory Medicine in Region Jämtland Härjedalen
Laboratory Medicine within Region Jämtland Härjedalen is an advanced diagnostic organization with extensive expertise and responsibility for medical diagnostics across the region. The organization is undergoing significant change and expansion, and we are now seeking new colleagues who want to join us on our exciting development journey where we conduct advanced medical diagnostics as well as research and development.
Laboratory Medicine is an accredited operation with a broad and varied diagnostic panorama. Many different professional groups work and collaborate here; biomedical analysts, laboratory engineers, molecular biologists, nurses, nursing assistants, laboratory assistants, specialist physicians in various disciplines, chemists, microbiologists, IT specialists, and medical secretaries.
We provide patients and referrers with a high degree of service throughout the region and beyond.
Clinical Microbiology
Clinical Microbiology encompasses both clinical bacteriology and virology; both culture-based diagnostics and molecular diagnostics within clinical microbiology. The unit also has its own substrate manufacturing operation. There are great opportunities for clinical research and development as well as for active participation in the rapidly growing development of the operation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A microbiologist is responsible for quality assurance, method development and validation, document review, and supervision of staff and students. The person is technically responsible for the verification and validation of new methods and analyses, and also participates in collaboration with clinicians and medically responsible physicians within their clinical unit.
The microbiologist is expected to follow scientific developments, initiate and lead development projects, and ensure that the operation adapts to new findings. The role also includes responsibility for education within the unit, methodological support, and follow-up and compilation of quality controls within the relevant operational area. The work requires great flexibility and meticulousness.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a licensed biomedical analyst or has equivalent academic education with a master's degree, or it is advantageous if you have a PhD in clinical microbiology, molecular biology, or a scientific area deemed relevant by the employer for the position.
We expect you to have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
As a person, you are meticulous and responsible, have the ability to work both independently and in a team, and possess good communication and problem-solving skills.
It is advantageous if you have clinical experience working in clinical microbiology, including culture, identification, and resistance determination of microorganisms and/or experience with molecular biological methods and sequencing.
You have a good understanding of microbiological processes, infectious diseases, and diagnostic methods, as well as knowledge of quality assurance and accreditation requirements according to ISO 15189. It is advantageous if you have experience working in laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer skills.
