Social Worker for Youth Center in Eskilstuna

The Youth Center caters to young people and young adults aged 13-23. We work on the youth's behalf and offer conversations about what worries and concerns them. This can involve relationships, family, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, identity, and sexuality. At the center, young people can also receive help with testing for sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptives, questions about their bodies, pregnancy tests, and more. Part of our mission also focuses on promoting physical, psychosocial, and sexual health among young people. We work critically with norms and consciously strive to create a safe environment for everyone. We are proud of our HBTQI certification and our involvement in the Pride festival.

With us, you will be part of an experienced and helpful team of psychologists, social workers, midwives, and doctors. Our center is centrally located. The center is run by both the Region and the municipality, where medical staff are employed by the Region and the counseling staff, such as you as a social worker, are employed by Eskilstuna municipality. Together, we have a strong cohesion with good communication and a supportive climate.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a social worker at the Youth Center, you will work with counseling for young people who seek support either on their own or with the help of an adult. You will meet young people with varying questions and issues. This may involve mental health issues, gender identity, pregnancy, etc. We collaborate with internal and external actors such as schools, the medical services of student health, social services, Barnahus, student health at universities, and other youth centers in the region. As a social worker, you can visit organizations to talk with student/youth groups about health-related topics.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in social work or behavioral science and who has completed psychotherapy training level 1.

It is an advantage if you have:

• training in sexology
• experience working with children and youth
• experience in counseling
• knowledge of LGBTQ/LGBTQI issues

You have the ability to build trusting relationships with the young people you meet in this role and work from our norm-critical approach. When encountering unfamiliar or new elements in your work, you have (in addition to the training you receive through the center) the ability and interest to find ways to stay updated on current/relevant topics. Furthermore, you can independently plan, drive, and prioritize your own work.
