Field Worker in the Facilities Group

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute in the role of field worker in the facilities group.

Job Responsibilities

You will primarily work with construction and facility work within the county's nature reserves and along the state trails. You may also work with other field tasks that occur within the Nature Conservation Unit's area of operations.

The facility work is very varied both in terms of the locations where it is performed and in complexity. The work can involve everything from building cabins, rest areas, and bridges to demolishing existing ones. On the trails, you may work with boardwalks, clearing, and marking.

Transporting materials using cars, snowmobiles, ATVs, helicopters, or similar is common. The work will be performed in the field and often in unroaded areas. Long trips and overnight stays under very simple conditions in the field throughout the county are also common.

You will also work with various tasks at the warehouse in Sorsele, which includes managing receiving, sorting, and packaging building materials for transport to the various project sites.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

Has practical training and experience as a carpenter, craftsman, etc.
Has experience in forests and mountains and can operate snowmobiles and ATVs in unroaded terrain
Has documented experience working with similar tasks under similar conditions
Has the physical ability to work in unroaded areas
Has experience working with suspended loads from helicopters
Has a BE driver's license
Has experience working with suspension bridges for hiking or experience from power line construction
Has experience with pole climbing.
