Volunteer Coordinator

Mind is seeking a temporary volunteer coordinator for our support lines based in Stockholm.

Mind's support lines are aimed at people who are feeling unwell, lonely, or having thoughts of suicide. We have approximately 600 volunteers who respond to the support lines - either via chat or phone. In 2025, we received over 80,000 calls from those seeking support, thanks to the tremendous commitment from our volunteers.

Our support services engage over 600 volunteers who provide peer support in the Suicide Line, Life Line, Parent Line, and Elder Line. We have about 40 employees and offices in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, and Umeå.

About the position

As a volunteer coordinator, your main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting volunteers before, during, and after their shifts
• Scheduling volunteer shifts and continuously working on staffing our support lines
• Taking calls on the Suicide Line, Life Line, or Elder Line
• Introducing new volunteers
• Documenting and updating our volunteer management system

At Mind's office in Stockholm, we are about twenty employees, four of whom are volunteer coordinators. One of the volunteer coordinators is on parental leave, and we are now looking for a temporary replacement. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues in other departments in Stockholm, as well as closely with volunteer coordinator colleagues who are active across the country.

Since most volunteers work remotely, support is primarily provided digitally.

Your profile

• Relevant higher education in fields such as social work, human resources, communication, or other equivalent competencies acquired through previous work
• At least 2-3 years of experience in roles where meetings and conversations with people have been a central part of your work
• You have a pronounced empathetic ability and are inclusive with an open and friendly attitude
• You enjoy collaborating with others and are accustomed to working independently
• Your ability to be structured and organized is a prominent trait
• With a guiding and supportive approach, you contribute to a positive atmosphere
• You enjoy a varied work environment and are not afraid to step in where needed
• You have excellent proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written
• You have very good computer skills

Meritorious:

• Experience in training and/or coaching others
• Knowledge of mental health issues and suicide prevention
• Experience in support conversations
• Experience in a similar position
• Experience in the non-profit sector (as a volunteer or as an employee)

Employment form

The position is a full-time temporary position until January 31, 2027. There may be a possibility of extension. The work is primarily scheduled during the day, but evenings and weekends occur relatively often. Our pleasant office in Stockholm is centrally located at Karlavägen 108.

The position is to be filled as soon as possible. Mind offers wellness benefits as well as a wellness hour per week. Mind has a collective agreement.
