Snälltåget is looking for a shunting driver based in Malmö

Snälltåget is expanding with more vehicles and new destinations. To facilitate this, we are now introducing a new personnel category to manage and prepare our trains and provide the best conditions for giving our passengers a good experience.

The Role As a shunting driver at Snälltåget, you are expected to be a responsible, communicative, and confident person with a genuine commitment to our operations. We have high demands that everyone working with us has a strong safety awareness, a friendly demeanor, and wants to contribute to providing our passengers with a great travel experience.

Shunting drivers work both as Supervisors during shunting, drivers, signalers, and train set preparers. In this role, you will be part of the team that assembles our trains and performs preparation and comfort checks of our vehicles. This work is a crucial building block for our traffic to function in the best possible way.

Snälltåget has its main vehicle depot in Malmö, and it is of great importance for our production that depot services are performed in a safe and efficient manner.

Your background You have training as a shunting driver on main tracks and therefore hold a valid train driver’s license. It is an advantage if you have worked with shunting locomotives and wagons.

Overall responsibilities

• Ensure that vehicles are operational

• Ensure that vehicles can be used for their intended purpose

• Complete and prepare trains for traffic

• Shunting of vehicles both as a driver and as a signaler

• Supervisor for shunting

• Check comfort functions on Snälltåget's vehicles

Other responsibilities The position also includes the responsibility to receive information and report errors and deviations. We are also an organization that encourages suggestions for improvements and actions.

About Snälltåget At Snälltåget, we are driven by providing our passengers with a pleasant and affordable journey! Snälltåget takes you between Copenhagen/Malmö and Stockholm year-round. During winter, summer, and early autumn, Snälltåget runs all the way from Malmö via Stockholm to the Jämtland mountains. You can also travel with us to Berlin for much of the year and to the Austrian Alps during the season. In 2026, we will expand traffic with day train services between Stockholm, Malmö, Copenhagen, and Hamburg, as well as between Malmö, Gothenburg, and Oslo.
