We are now looking for a skilled Machine Mechanic for an established transport company in Kiruna with approximately 120–130 employees, the majority of whom are drivers. The company operates an extensive fleet of machinery in the mine, where operations run around the clock. A total of over 100 vehicles and construction machines are handled, including wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, excavators, and trucks.
Here, you work in an environment where freedom under responsibility, high satisfaction, and a strong team spirit are at the center. You will belong to a good team of 4-5 mechanics. The mechanics team here is tight, competent, and works without micromanagement — you are involved in taking responsibility, planning your own work, and solving what needs to be done.
About the position
As a Machine Mechanic at our client's company, you will work with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of heavy construction machinery in a mining environment. You work independently and prioritize your tasks in dialogue with the workshop manager. The pace is high, the machines run 24/7, and the assignments vary from day to day.
Here, the main focus is not on regular service jobs. The role focuses more on advanced mechanics, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
Your tasks
Troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of construction machines
Emergency interventions in a mining environment
Maintenance and technical measures
Repairs on machines such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo CAP, Scania, etc.
Independent planning and prioritization of the workday
Collaboration with the workshop manager and other mechanics
We are looking for someone who
Has experience with construction machines or heavy vehicles such as wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, excavators, and trucks.
Is self-sufficient and confident in making decisions
Has a good ability to troubleshoot advanced machine faults
Has a strong work ethic and enjoys a free role
Is team-oriented and contributes to a good working environment
Has a Category B driver's license
Meritorious
Experience with Caterpillar or Komatsu
Experience with Scania or Volvo CAP
Welding skills
Ability to teach and support other mechanics
Working hours
Full-time, ongoing. You will be directly employed by the client company.
7 days on / 7 days off (wow!)
Working hours: 06:00–16:00
Paid lunch
Alternatively, there is a daytime role Monday–Friday for one of the positions
