About the job

Are you knowledgeable about fire safety, machinery, and/or electricity on vessels and want to join a government team? Then this job might be right for you. In the vessel safety section, we work to achieve transport policy goals and contribute to a competitive, environmentally friendly, and safe transport system.

You will

  • be both guiding and supportive in the regulatory work for fire safety, machinery, and electricity
  • work on issues related to structural fire safety and alternative fuels for vessels
  • participate in the work of international and national regulation development
  • collaborate on a national level with other authorities, interest organizations, and industry

You must have

  • a marine engineering degree or another academic degree and experience that the Transport Agency assesses as equivalent
  • experience working with fire safety and/or machinery and electricity on vessels
  • good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English
  • a valid driver's license (B)

It is meritorious if you also have

  • experience of structural fire safety on vessels
  • experience of alternative fuels and batteries
  • experience of international regulations (IMO, classification societies) within fire safety, machinery, and electricity
  • processed and analyzed information
  • worked within government administration.

More information

The employment is permanent with placement in Norrköping or Stockholm. Filling the position will be according to agreement.

We normally apply a probationary period. As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the operation and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible. For positions with high security requirements, it is usually necessary to work in the office.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

About the Transport Agency

Number of employees: About 2000.

Areas of operation: The Transport Agency works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, issue permits, and follow up on compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership transfers.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operation is in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro.

The headquarters is located in Norrköping.

About the Maritime and Aviation Department

The Maritime and Aviation Department contributes to a competitive, environmentally friendly, and safe transport system. We do this by maintaining registers, formulating regulations, testing and issuing permits, and exercising supervision. We also operate in many contexts on the international arena.

We are located in Norrköping, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm and have about 300 employees organized into six units and a staff unit.
