JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In Falkenberg Municipality, we invest in school libraries as a pedagogical resource, and from July 1, 2025, the role of the school library will be strengthened by the new school library law. We are now looking for a school librarian who, in close collaboration with other school librarians, the school's library manager, and staff, wants to develop the library into a place where the joy of reading, information literacy, and creative learning are at the center.

As a school librarian with us, you play a key role in strengthening students' reading, information literacy, and digital skills. An important starting point for the position is to design and implement Falkenberg Municipality's school library plan, which means you will have a central role in shaping the future school library.

Since this is a new initiative, the assignment will gradually evolve. The content and working methods of the position will be developed based on practical experiences and the competencies and ideas of the new school librarians. You will have the opportunity to influence and be part of a dynamic change process!

The assignment is directed towards the Tröinge and Ullared areas.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive and develop the school library as a central part of the teaching
• Inspire reading through book talks, thematic reading, and other reading-promoting activities.
• Support students and teachers in information retrieval, source criticism, and digital competence.
• Work closely with the school's staff to integrate the library into the teaching.
• Create an inclusive and accessible learning environment where all students are given equal opportunities to succeed.
• Implement and develop the municipality's school library plan in collaboration with the principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• Has education in library and information science or equivalent.
• Is passionate about inspiring children and young people to read and learn.
• Is pedagogical and it is an advantage if you have experience working in a school environment.
• Has good digital competence and can work with both analog and digital learning resources.
• Is flexible and enjoys working in a changing environment where the assignment evolves over time.
• Is a collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with students, teachers, and school management.
