About the Workplace

The South East Skåne Fire and Rescue Service Association (SÖRF) was established in 2000. The association's task is to work for safety-enhancing measures and interventions for all who live, work, or stay in our member municipalities Simrishamn, Sjöbo, Tomelilla, and Ystad. Approximately 85,000 residents live in the area, and during the summer months, the population more than doubles.

The number of employees in the association is approximately 160 people. Of these, about 50 are full-time employees and 110 are part-time employees.

At the beginning of 2025, SÖRF will enter a new organization, which includes adapting routines and working methods to new conditions. This work will continue into 2026, providing good opportunities to help develop the organization to meet future challenges and opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

The position includes tasks within both the operational and accident prevention areas. As an operations coordinator, you will work with qualitative tasks, plan your own work, drive projects, and development both individually and together with colleagues.

In this position, you will primarily work within the fire service's accident prevention area. Your main focus will be to conduct inspections, manage permit and referral matters according to the Fire Protection Act (LSO) and the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods (LBE), as well as other applicable legislation.

Operationally, you will work in the role of incident commander, responding to alarms in a command position (level 2). A key aspect of the incident commander role is that you will act as the rescue leader in accidents requiring command level 2, conduct incident management at the scene, and fulfill reporting obligations in connection with accidents.

If you possess additional relevant skills or experience, there may be opportunities for you to take on other tasks within the framework of the organization's needs.

This position is a full-time employment based on a shift schedule.

The tasks may require you to undergo security classification, and you will then make yourself available to the employer to fulfill the commitments required.

Qualifications

We are looking for an engaged and development-oriented person who is willing to actively contribute to the continued development of the association. Personal qualities such as the ability to take initiative, curiosity, and a desire to deepen your knowledge in the subject area will be important traits in the selection process.

To thrive and function well in the role, good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as organized administrative competence are required. You should be able to drive and plan your own work while also collaborating easily with colleagues and working in a team. Since the position involves exercising authority, we expect you to act with high integrity and responsibility.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

To apply for the position, you must meet the following formal requirements:

  • Leadership course for Strength Leaders and Leadership course for Incident Commanders, or equivalent older training. Alternatively, you have a degree in fire engineering with additional training in fire service for fire engineers (RUB).
  • Supervision A
  • Driver's license category B

The following qualifications are considered meritorious:

  • Experience and education in the fire service's accident prevention activities, such as Supervision Course B and/or course in LBE.
  • Experience in municipal safety work, such as safety coordination, preparedness coordination, information security, etc.
  • Experience in work related to civil defense or total defense. More specifically, Fire Service under heightened preparedness.
  • Experience in rescue leadership, overall management, and unified command system (ELS)
