Your New Job

In elderly care, we actively work to ensure that food and the dining experience are a natural part of everyday life and one of the day's great joys for our elderly residents. As a chef with us, you will play an important role in creating delicious, nutritious, and well-prepared meals from scratch. The work also includes preparing special diets and food with adapted textures. The job includes all common tasks in a large kitchen such as:

• cooking and salad preparation
• dishes and cleaning
• serving
• self-control
• ordering supplies
• working in our food data program

The work involves many contacts, both with your workgroup and with colleagues in nearby kitchens as well as food managers. You will also be in contact with care staff, nurses, unit managers, citizens, suppliers, and drivers. Communication and collaboration are therefore important parts of the role.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who:

• has completed a secondary education with a focus on restaurant and food programs or post-secondary education as a chef that is deemed equivalent, or extensive experience in the profession that can replace formal chef training
• has good knowledge of food hygiene
• master the Swedish language in speech, writing, and reading comprehension

It is advantageous if you have work experience from restaurants or large kitchens.

As a person, you are stable and self-sufficient with a good ability to structure your work efficiently. Furthermore, you are flexible and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. It is important for you to thrive as a chef with us that you enjoy collaborating with others and prioritize the team over yourself.

Welcome to Us

The elderly care in Jönköping Municipality aims to offer our citizens a wide range of high-quality care and services. Food and nutrition are an important part of this work. We strive to provide our elderly citizens with good, safe, and nutritious food – every day. Our organization consists of 14 kitchens and about 100 employees who together prepare approximately 3,300 portions daily. The food is prepared from scratch and is primarily based on traditional home cooking.

Good to Know

The recruitment concerns both permanent positions and temporary vacancies, with start dates as agreed. Upon employment, you will receive a basic placement in one of our kitchens, which may change over time.

We apply a five-week schedule with weekend work two out of five weekends. Working hours are daytime, 07:00-16:00. We work with joint planning, and some shifts may be scheduled in other kitchens within the same area.

Bus and train connections are limited to some of our kitchens located in the municipality's outskirts. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have a driver's license and access to a car or other transportation if you do not live in the vicinity.
