The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand detention, and client transport.

The Hinseberg area is located on the outskirts of Frövi, about thirty kilometers northeast of Örebro, and consists of a prison and a remand center. Public transport can be challenging on weekends and evenings. The area is approximately 1.5 kilometers walking distance from the nearest transport hub. If you drive, you can park in our staff parking lot, which is close to the area.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a chef, you will primarily prepare meals for inmates at the prison, but to some extent also for the staff. The tasks involved are typical duties within a large kitchen, such as planning, purchasing, providing food for breakfast, and preparing lunch and dinner. Your responsibilities will also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, washing dishes, and conducting self-control in accordance with current legislation. Preparation of diet food and other special diets may occur. The work is carried out in collaboration with staff in other functions.

There is a chance for hourly employment both before and after the summer position.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a chef, it is important that you are confident, stable, and self-aware. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. It is also important that you have good judgment, can work well with others, and take responsibility for your tasks.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Restaurant or catering education at the high school level, or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
  • The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working in a large kitchen
  • Experience with self-control
  • Relevant language skills
  • Experience working with special diets
  • A valid driver's license (B)
