Consultant Psychiatrist/Specialist Physician for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are building the future of child and adolescent psychiatry at NU Health Care and are now looking for another consultant psychiatrist/specialist physician for our emergency psychiatry and outpatient care!

About Us

The child and adolescent psychiatry at NU Health Care is in an intensive development phase where we have been tasked with building a BUP for the future: A BUP with robust clinics and broad competence regarding both professional categories and diagnostic areas.

The physician role is central to the child psychiatric work, and we place great emphasis on interdisciplinary teamwork. We have a very good collegial cohesion within the physician group.

Since February 2024, our inpatient care has been temporarily closed, and our patients in need of inpatient care receive treatment at SÄS. However, we still have our emergency reception where acute assessments are made during the day by ST physicians. Specialist physicians/consultants are available remotely for consultation as back-up. The BUP emergency reception is located on the NÄL hospital grounds.

Currently, the physician reception is separate in what we call the Medical Reception, which is a support reception. The reception is centrally located in Uddevalla. We actively work towards outpatient and specialist receptions: BUP East located in Trollhättan, BUP 0-5 located in Uddevalla, as well as BUP West and the BUP Eating Disorders Unit located at the hospital in Uddevalla.

About the Position

We wish to strengthen the physician staffing with another consultant psychiatrist/specialist who will work with outpatient care and emergency psychiatry. The work consists of regular tasks within outpatient care.

Currently, we do not have an on-call line, but it may become relevant in the future to join an on-call line as back-up. Depending on what happens in the future, inpatient work may also become relevant. In the spring of 2026, we will start with on-call duties from 16:30 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 22:00 on weekends.

Within the organization, we train ST physicians, AT physicians, BT physicians, and students, and mentoring these is part of your assignment. To some extent, we apply fork reception where guidance can be provided physically or digitally.

About You

We are looking for you who is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, preferably with experience in clinical work in recent years. You are passionate about child psychiatric work and want to make a difference. As an ST physician in the final phase of your specialist training, you are welcome to apply for a position with the possibility of promotion after a training period.

You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team where the physician role naturally interacts with all the professions that our most serious conditions require. It is important that you have good social skills and the ability to collaborate. You have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing. Innovative thinking and interest in development work are important, and we place great emphasis on personal qualities.
