Psychiatric Emergency Reception

Psychiatric Emergency Reception

The psychiatric emergency reception receives patients suffering from acute mental health issues who require immediate assessment and decision regarding care needs. You will meet patients from various backgrounds, problems, and needs, and a central part will be to perform psychiatric assessments and evaluations. There is standard medication as well as some need for somatic care/assessment and management.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities at the emergency reception mainly consist of telephone counseling and triage according to WEST. The responsibilities also include a coordinator role, which means you have a supervisory responsibility for patient flow at the emergency reception and report patients to the care department. We who work here are nurses and nursing assistants together with our doctors and secretaries at our reception.

As we have a mission to staff part of the syringe exchange program in collaboration with the infection clinic, part of the working hours can be allocated there if interested.

Qualifications

Registered nurse. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. It is an advantage if you have experience in psychiatric emergency care. You need to be flexible and independent as the tasks and work environment are variable. You need to be goal-oriented in your pursuit of acquiring a broader skill level as you will face changing tasks. It is important that you can easily collaborate with our healthcare partners and meet patients who are mentally unwell.

Clinical Foundation Year

As a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of NU Health Care's clinical foundation year. The clinical foundation year is an initiative to give newly graduated nurses a good start in working life. You will have better opportunities to develop in your profession and build a professional identity through introduction, seminar days, and professional supervision.
